Today's toast: Martin Luther was declared an outlaw and heretic at the Diet of Worms
May 25, 2007
When you pop open a cold one this weekend, don't forget to toast Martin Luther who shook up the world back in the 1500s. It was on this day 486 years ago that he was declared an outlaw and heretic by the Diet of Worms.

I often wonder what the world would be like if Luther hadn't taken the bold action he took to sever the power of the ancient popes and the Roman Catholic Church.
It was Luther and his "Here I Stand" conviction that challenged the church establishment where Christian believers were told that they had to buy their way to heaven with indulgences.
Luther pointed believers back to the Bible and the truth that we all get to heaven by grace alone.
